You Have To Stand Up To Run

YOU HAVE TO STAND UP TO RUN

Lately, the pace of change in our lives has been remarkably swift. Just last Monday, I woke up to find myself entertaining the idea of acquiring not just one but multiple businesses by the end of the week. The thought is undeniably daunting, yet it’s also incredibly exhilarating!

The remarkable aspect of this whole situation is that early Monday morning, I found myself thinking, “Gosh, it feels like we’ve been sprinting a million miles an hour lately.”

It’s as if the divine responded, “Dan, you’ve merely been crawling; stand up so you can walk.” It never fails to astonish me how, in our current circumstances, we often perceive ourselves as overwhelmed.

When I initially began my employment at Basin Coop, merely a few years ago, working in their feed mill, I was astounded by the pace at which I needed to operate. At least, that’s what I thought at the time.

However, when I transitioned to Crossfire and assumed the role of their DOT manager, entrusted with establishing and executing their DOT program from scratch, I realized what it truly meant to be in motion.

As we ventured into launching our businesses, I felt like I was running. And now, as we continue to expand and scale our operations, it seems like I’m running even faster. Every task and endeavor seem to demand a sprinting pace, but it’s all about how we manage it.

Recently, I brought one of our employee experience professionals along on a business trip. About halfway through, he remarked, “Dan, you must be the most productive guy I know.” After chuckling, I inquired, “What makes you say that?” His response caught me off guard.

“Well, we’ve been together for a solid three days, from 8 a.m. to about 9:30 p.m.,” he explained. “When we got stranded in construction, you didn’t panic. Instead, you took a moment to assess the situation and then suggested some team-building activities to make the most of our 4.5 hours with no cell service and no natural way to work.

“Even after we decided to return to an area with cell service, you didn’t immediately dive into your computer. Instead, you used the time to brainstorm new strategies for growth. Only after that did you begin to make some calls.”

You never seem to stay still. In fact, you even listen to your books while driving at 1.75 times the normal speed they’re ready at.

Most people would be bewildered by this, thinking, ‘What on earth is this? I can’t even comprehend it.’ But you absorb what you hear and actively engage by asking questions about it.

What strikes me the most about this trip is that, despite thinking I had a lot going on, I don’t. Yet, with your overflowing plate, most people couldn’t even fathom handling half of what you do.

Despite all this, you remain approachable, grounded, and genuinely interested in listening to almost anyone. You excel at managing everything with grace and ease.

It gave me pause for thought, although, I admit, not the most productive use of time. Why do I push forward at such a rapid pace?

The reality is that I recognize the vast capabilities God has instilled within me. And they’re substantial.

Moreover, I consistently surrender it back to Him. In times of success, the credit belongs to Him. During challenging moments, we seek answers and solace in Him.

When considering the acquisition of new businesses, we seek His guidance to ensure it’s the right decision. The essence of this blog is recognizing that we’re all busy, all feeling like we’re in a constant hustle. Yet, we each move at our own pace.

Comparing myself to someone managing a larger business with numerous moving parts would make it seem like I’m standing still. Similarly, reflecting on where I was a decade ago, I’d appear stagnant, despite feeling like I was sprinting then.

So, here’s to standing up and taking the first step into this new world.
P.S. We’re excited to share more about what’s to come, and I’m certain that as you continue to follow us, you’ll hear all about it.

If you know me, you know I despise keeping secrets, but I’m obliged to maintain confidentiality a bit longer. Rest assured, once I can divulge the amazing changes coming to our community, you’ll be the first to know.

Act

Today, you have the power to choose to see the bright side of things. It’s all about perspective. Every situation offers an opportunity for growth. You can either dwell on the negative and feel disheartened, or you can take a proactive step forward.

Reflect on past events in your life. Compare the decisions you made, the pace at which you were moving, or any other relevant factor to where you are today. Ask yourself: Is your current situation better or worse than before? If it’s better, what contributed to this improvement? If it’s worse, what factors led to this decline?

While it’s natural to observe others and their progress, avoid comparing yourself to them unless it serves as motivation to propel you forward.

Until next time,

Dan Greer

You’re only stuck when you stop moving

YOU’RE ONLY STUCK WHEN YOU STOP MOVING

During my childhood, my grandpa used to impart a simple yet profound wisdom: “You’re only stuck when you stop moving!” He often referred to a tractor navigating through the wet parts of a field, but his words held a deeper truth about life.

Life is a continuous journey, always in motion. I’ve come to realize that the only instances when I’ve felt truly stuck were when I allowed myself to come to a standstill.

During my tenure at Crossfire, it seemed like I was always progressing. I experienced frequent promotions, shifts in my job responsibilities, and the challenge of building a DOT program from the ground up. Even when we were acquired by another major corporation, the momentum didn’t stop.

In essence, over the span of 5.5 years, I never once felt stagnant.

While working as an equipment operator for San Juan County before my time at Crossfire, I often found myself feeling stagnant, despite numerous opportunities for advancement. It wasn’t until near the end of my tenure there that I finally began to seize those opportunities.

Ultimately, the crucial factor lies in our self-motivation and drive.

We always have the opportunity to move forward. Whether we choose to act or remain stagnant is entirely up to us. I’m here to emphasize that the majority of people prefer to stay in their comfort zones, while only a small fraction—the 1%—are constantly in motion.

It’s this minority that tends to be the most successful, not necessarily in terms of financial wealth but in their overall fulfillment and happiness. They find joy and satisfaction in what they do and where they are in life, consistently striving for progress and growth.

At some point in our lives, we all find ourselves in ruts. However, it’s up to us to decide whether we’ll actively work to steer ourselves out of those ruts or simply coast along and remain stuck.

Escaping from these ruts can be challenging, particularly if they’re deep, and many others are also caught in them. But with determination and effort, it’s possible to overcome these obstacles and chart a new course.

You might currently find yourself stuck in various ruts, such as excessive social media use, binge-watching TV for hours on end, relying solely on one news source for information, being consumed by fear and hesitancy, avoiding new experiences, hesitating to pursue remarkable opportunities, overindulging in alcohol at night, and the list goes on.

Have you ever experienced getting stuck in a rut while driving your car or navigating through a swampy area on an ATV? The crucial thing to remember is to keep moving. If you come to a halt, you run the risk of getting stuck, or at the very least, it becomes much more challenging to regain momentum.

Seeking assistance from someone to pull you out of your current situation can be incredibly helpful. The key lies in making small corrective actions.

Attempting to make drastic changes in your life, akin to jerking the wheel sideways, can lead to tipping over and becoming even more stuck than before.

However, if you make a slight adjustment to the wheel and maintain a steady throttle, you can gradually ascend out of the ruts and onto dry ground.

I understand there are numerous analogies here, but the crucial point to remember is to never stop moving! Regardless of your current circumstances or endeavors, you only become stuck when you cease to move forward.

Everything you want in life is one relationship away

Regulators, enforcement officials, and industry leaders gathered in one space for an entire week!

This week, I participated in the CVSA Workshop held in St. Louis, MO, which turned out to be a fantastic experience! FMCSA Administrator Martinez graced the event during its initial days, providing invaluable insights into the future direction of FMCSA. I had the privilege of discussing some of my personal queries with him. Throughout the workshop, numerous high-level personnel from FMCSA also attended, presenting an excellent networking opportunity. It’s not every day you get to interact with top enforcement officials from both the United States and Canada, alongside industry leaders and FMCSA representatives, all under one roof. Here are some key takeaways from the event that I believe will have a significant impact on transportation companies nationwide:

• CCMT, the Canadian Centre for Mobility and Technology, has highlighted their white paper on distracted driving, which has gained significant international recognition. I personally have reviewed this document and find it to be rich with valuable information.

• The implementation of the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is scheduled for January 6, 2020. It will mandate that all employees conduct an annual query for each DOT drug-tested driver. Additionally, new drivers must log in to a forthcoming website and grant permission to employers to access their results. The Medical Review Officer (MRO) is responsible for reporting failed tests, while companies must report refusals. Lastly, all new drivers must undergo checks before operating a commercial motor vehicle (CMV).

• DOT Secretary Chao has submitted new Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, but FMCSA is currently unable to provide specific details about the recommendations. They have emphasized referring back to the comments submitted during the September/October period.

• The International Roadcheck Week is scheduled for June 4–6. This year, enforcement will concentrate on inspecting steering and suspension components. Discussions for 2020 include the potential focus on distracted driving and driver credentials during that week.

• Brake Inspection Week is scheduled for September 15–21, focusing this year on brake lines and hoses.

• Safe Driver Week will occur from July 14 to 20, with a focus on combating distracted driving, particularly concerning hand-held devices.

• CSA’s are undergoing a transformation into an IRT program and are currently in the testing phase.

• DataQ will undergo updates soon, so anticipate changes. If you have specific preferences or suggestions regarding the website (such as reports or user-friendliness), now is the time to communicate with FMCSA at DataQs@dot.gov.

  • Hazmat inspections cannot be conducted during a level 3 inspection. If you encounter such inspections, it’s advisable to submit them to DATAQ promptly.

  • There are discussions for the inclusion of a hazmat blitz week in the CVSA’s enforcement efforts for 2020.

  • CVSA is contemplating sending a letter to FMCSA proposing that supervisory drug and alcohol training should be renewed every 3 years instead of being a lifetime requirement.

  • CVSA has recently unveiled its 2019 out-of-service criteria book and app. It could be beneficial to have these resources available for your fleet employees working on CMVs, providing additional training opportunities in vehicle maintenance across the company.

Here’s a concise rewrite:

“This provides a summary of key workshop insights that could impact your company this week. The Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse was a prominent topic discussed by FMCSA members. I highly encourage industry professionals to attend CVSA meetings and workshops for valuable networking opportunities across North America.”

“Transform Your Business Using Russell Brunson’s Value Ladder Strategy: Unlock Your Entrepreneurial Potential and Foster Positive Change.”

Hello everyone! This is Dan Greer, and I’m thrilled to share some valuable insights from the master of Click Funnels, Russell Brunson. I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge from him, and I’m eager to pass on some of his wisdom to all of you.

Now, who here doesn’t want their businesses to thrive? One effective strategy to achieve that is by constructing a value ladder. Are you all ready to elevate your businesses to new heights? Let’s dive in!

Think of a value ladder as your roadmap to success. It’s structured with value on one axis and price on the other. As the value increases, so does the price.

You can’t anticipate someone purchasing your top-tier offer right away just because they’re familiar with you.

That’s where the value ladder becomes crucial. It serves as a method to introduce your customers to a low-cost offer initially and then progressively guide them toward your higher-priced options.

Allow me to provide an example from my own business, Eclipse DOT. The initial rung of our value ladder comprises all the complimentary resources we offer, such as blog posts, webinars, and podcasts. (Fun fact: I record the podcast in my basement using an affordable mic from Amazon.) (So, you don’t need to splurge to deliver value.)

Moving on, we offer a complimentary micro-audit. During this assessment, we’ll review their DOT program and provide advice on achieving compliance.

Notice how we prioritize delivering value before asking for their investment.

Following that, we progress to our continuity programs, which are subscription services designed to keep our customers informed about DOT compliance regulations. Through our software, DOTDocs.com, we are dedicated to ensuring our customers always remain fully compliant.

Ascending the ladder further, we introduce our Masterclass programs, priced from $97 to $997, aimed at providing our customers with comprehensive expertise in DOT compliance, leadership, and various other topics. But our commitment doesn’t stop at selling them a course. We go the extra mile by offering newsletters, personalized 1-on-1 calls, and additional support to ensure they derive maximum value from their investment.

Approaching the summit of our value ladder, we present our annual live event—a four-day celebration featuring esteemed speakers and exclusive insights. We extend discounts to customers at every level, ensuring accessibility to this high-value experience. Additionally, we are launching a group coaching program complete with weekly calls and exclusive training sessions, further enriching our offerings.

That’s the subsequent progression beyond our live events!

Last but certainly not least, we present our inner circle membership. Here, you gain exclusive personal access to me, along with bimonthly meetings. Representing our most premium offer, this is tailored for customers seeking to elevate their compliance, leadership, and business acumen to unprecedented heights.

I strongly believe that fostering a community is equally vital to building a prosperous company. My goal is to leverage my business as a force for positive change in people’s lives, driven by my conviction that I’ve been called by God to do so.

Regrettably, I observe numerous business owners solely focused on selling their companies, often neglecting the impact on their community. However, as entrepreneurs, we possess the ability to effect change within our communities by authentically investing in the lives of those around us.

So, there you have it—the value ladder, in a nutshell. I trust it’ll have the same transformative impact on your business as it has had on mine. Always bear in mind that the essence lies in providing value to your customers, even if it’s not tied to a monetary exchange.

Oh, and one final note: if you decide to implement this value ladder, ensure you ascend it with purpose and integrity.
